Heart Shaped Pancakes

Hey Babes!

I have a confession, I have NEVER made pancakes before. My mom is the designated pancake maker in our house and I am not someone who usually puts much effort into my breakfast. I like oatmeal, RXBars and avocado toast when I'm feeling fancy. Not to brag, but my breakfast routine is probably the most low maintenance thing about me.

With all of that being said, I thought it would be fun to make heart shaped pancakes for Valentine's Day!

Here’s How It Went

First I started with boxed pancake mix and added 2 cups of the mixture to a bowl and 1 and 1/2 cups of water and stirred until the large clumps dissolved. Then, I let the batter sit for two minutes like to box said to do!

When it was time and the greased skillet had heated up, I added in the batter. Like a real experienced chef, I put the heart shaped cookie cutter on the skillet and then poured the batter inside. To my complete surprise, it didn't fucking work and then the pancakes were stuck inside of the heart. I had seen pictures of people doing it and either they lied or I did something wrong, but it did not go well for me.

So, because I had a shit ton of batter left, I decided that I would just make pancakes and then use the cookie cutter to cut the pancakes into hearts after they were cooked. The second option worked a whole lot better!

I served these pancakes with powdered sugar and fresh strawberries! If you' re feeling fancy you could add Nutella, or maybe even chocolate chips or sprinkles to the batter. I think it's a cute option for a Valentine's breakfast or even just as an aesthetically pleasing treat for yourself.
